the daily purge+, 4-13-20

‘Plus’ what? While sitting on the couch during these ‘uncertain times’* The Purging Lutheran has had mucho time to check out various websites on my IPad. One site I visit is ‘vintage everyday’ which posts odd-nick photos from the past. I fell upon a post which focused on the illustrative works of an Italian fellow named Walter Molino. Suffice it to say, he is very descriptive in his works. I picked out a few of my favorites and will add them to my posts as time and circumstances allow. But first, the purge-o-the-day.

Who knows when we bought this? Probably long ago when the kids were younger and into puzzles, jokes and queries regarding Christianity. They worked on puzzle books, worksheets and studies. Then they were done. And now, a decade and a half later, this book is being adios’ed and tossed out. I have a few Bible brainteasers for you. The answers are below the Scripture.

Question #1: Who helped one of His disciples recover an ax-head which had fallen into the Jordan River?

Question #2: Whose bones, when touched, brought a dead man back to life?

Question #3: Elisha the prophet called down a curse on a group of kids for making fun of his baldness. What happened to them?

Now for an illustration by Walter Malino.

Let’s not pretend you haven’t given this a thought at one time or another. I appreciate the man’s certitude given the pipe in his mouth.

Mark 5:18-20

18 As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him. 19 Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” 20 So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed.

Answer #1: 2 Kings 6:1-6

*My Sweet Rib’s least favorite term during this quarantine. But what does ‘quarantine’ mean? The interweb sez:

a period, originally 40 days, of detention or isolation imposed upon ships, persons, animals, or plants on arrival at a port or place, when suspected of carrying some infectious or contagious disease.

We are on day ~29 of this mess. Will the lockdown be lifted by the 24th of April or maybe just wait an extra couple days until we reach a nice round number like May 1st?
