What? Another welcome mat? Even though it doesn’t say ‘welcome’ (neither did the other one from a few days ago) it is, still in fact, a welcome mat. How many welcome mats does a family need? The Purging Lutheran doesn’t have a lot of visitors except for website delivery persons, the occasional pizza guy and the young college kid begging us to purchase affordable lawn care maintenance & treatment services. My Sweet Rib and I don’t care to have friends as we get older and older. It’s not that we don’t like and love other persons but friends want to do stuff with you, stuff like going out for the evening, hanging out to watch football, going bowling, and meeting for a cup of beer. Really? Who does that stuff after the age of 45? Just people trying to ward off the ageing process by pretending to be young. Blah-ha-ha!! As I get older and older I find myself caring less and less about more and more.
Honestly, who really cares what most professional athletes think? Is anyone over the age of 30 really persuaded by by rock stars? Do Hollywood actors and actresses hold sway over most Americans? Do I care about fanciful shoes and pants? Do I need a watch which follows me around telling others where I am? How concerned otter I be about ring-around-the-collar, mid-riff bulge and coffee stains?
What do I care about? My family. My friends. My neighbors. My community. My state. My nation. My Earth. My Lord. My God. My Holy Ghost. And anything which falls under all their pur·views ( /ˈpərˌvyo͞os/ ).
“Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other.”
