How long do you think cutting boards have been in existence? If you know please tell The Purging Lutheran. This is a wooden cutting board My Sweet Rib used the other day to make supper. It appears as though one of us didn’t wipe the board before we put it in the dishwasher. Speaking of dishwashers, I don’t think we are supposed to put wooden boards in them. We did it 20+ years ago with another cutting board and it came out in two pieces.
At the time I threw this out I was under the impression that wooden cutting boards were a danger to the human race because germs could flourish in the nooks and crannies and crannied nooks of a wooden board. Being loaded with integrity and do-goodism, I did the responsible thing and studied up on cutting boards before writing this. What I found out through Wikipedia was …
One 1994 study found that wood was more likely to retain bacterial contamination, while another 1994 study found the opposite.
Was I just to throw this board away?
