The Purging Lutheran and My Sweet Rib have a color scheme. Those colors are red and black. Sometimes we buy a red ‘this or that’ and sometimes we buy a black ‘whatever’. I’m not sure how we decided on those two colors but decide we did. I don’t think we are as wed to them as we once were though. We are replacing older red and black dishware with different colored plates and bowls. After owning this red bowl and eating from it for many years it finally chipped away enough that it became unsightly ( I see the chips even if you do not). This bowl has held many meals. Some of those meals were rice; rice with noodles; rice with noodles and sometimes bits of beef; General Tso’s Chicken (which includes rice – sometimes white, sometimes chicken fried); spaghetti; spaghetti with sauce (but never spaghetti with sauce and meatballs); cereal and milk; and cold pizza. Look, I think you, Persistent Reader, can imagine a zillion other foods that can be eaten from this bowl. Corn. Corn would be one. Howzabowt beans? Yes, beans can pass as food. And peas? NEVER! Never a pea (grrr).
What does this bowl mean to you? It means you’ll probably see other dishware purges over the next several days. Now, don you fergit to say yer grace, use a napkin, and kip those elbows offa the table!
Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for God has already approved what you do.
