the daily purge 1-27-17

Shortly after The Purging Lutheran inserted this photograph for today’s purge, I received a phone call from Diane Arbus demanding I stop trying to take ‘neat’ pictures, that there was only room for one ‘creative force in nature’ and that was her, not me. My response? To quote Bill the Cat: TTBBFT!

What’s the purge? It is the …

Hey! Wait a minute! What gives? You did this yesterday. Who’s zoomin’ who around here?

… mirror in the wicker basket.

My Sweet Rib and I used it to keep faces in it when persons would stop and look it. At least until they went away and took their faces with them. Mirrors are great for showing someone their nose or stubble but they have horrible memories. The proverb, ‘out of sight, out of mind‘ was written with the mirror in mind. Any famous faces in our mirror? No. Just reg’lar folk.

James 1:23-25    The Message (MSG)

Don’t fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener when you are anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other. Act on what you hear! Those who hear and don’t act are like those who glance in the mirror, walk away, and two minutes later have no idea who they are, what they look like.

But whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God—the free life!—even out of the corner of his eye, and sticks with it, is no distracted scatterbrain but a man or woman of action. That person will find delight and affirmation in the action.
