When My Sweet Rib and her The Purging Lutheran bought this we could both see that our centers-of-gravity would be perilously close to Earth’s own center of gravity. Yes, we saw the inherent risk in it but didn’t realize how much risk there was. Poor product design has been with us since the Bible days. In Luke 13, Jesus brings this up…
Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”
Why clamshell packaging? (if I already had scissors to get the scissors out of the packaging then I didn’t need the scissors)
Why automatic toilets? (thanks for your enthusiasm, Mr. Flush, but I wasn’t finished)
Why hand dryers? In public bathrooms THAT ARE STUPID LOUD (insert necessary amount of exclamation marks here).
God gave all/most/some of us really great brains but sometimes we use them too much when we need to use our eyes and see that some things are just wrong. And when we use our eyes too much watchin’ women walkin’ with a twang or men filling up a shirt with muscles then we need to use our hearts to know we’re filling our eyes with wrongdoing. And of course our hearts will eventually betray us with desires, greeds and …. Argh!!! What’s a schmoe to do?
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
