This book/puzzle falls under the category of Unknown Origin. ThePurgingLutheran doesn’t know how this came to be in our basement. MySweetRib is the most likely villain in this purchase. She probably picked it up from a gararge sale back in the day when we cautiouslessly picked up items like this and brought them home like lost puppies. As well as the 1,000 pieces needed to complete the puzzle, it came with storybook about Noah and the ark (Genesis 6-9). Here are the main points:
- Mankind is sinful.
- God’s decides to rid life with a flood.
- He orders righteous Noah to build an ark.
- His family and animals enter the ark.
- The flood begins.
- Life outside the ark perishes.
- The waters recede.
- All aboard the ark disembark.
- A rainbow glows as God’s promise to never flood the Earth again.
There have been many attempts to scour the mountains of Ararat in Turkey to locate the ark. I suspect that it will not be found as it’s likely it was disassembled to use as lumber to build homes and barns. Any wood (gopherwood in this case) that can last through forty days of hard rain, wind, lightning and thunder and then a year of floating about would certainly be useful for immediate shelter. A family can stand to live together in cramped quarters for only so long and, presumably, there were no forests to chop down after having been submerged for a year.
…. time for lunch and contemplation passes ….
One ham sandwich and diet Pepsi later, I return to finish. MySweetRib suggested I end this with…
“And from then on, all parents taught their kids to swim.”
OK, that’ll do. We donated this to Goodwill for resale so someone else can tell the story.
Romans 13:1 – Let every soul be subject to the authorities being above him. For there is no authority except by God; but those existing are having been instituted by God.
